Man Arrested On Suspicion Of GBH After Ryde Incident

A man has been arrested after another man was seriously injured in an assault in Ryde High Street last night.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said officers were called by the ambulance service shortly after 9pm on May 25 following reports of an incident near the junction with Green Street.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious, but not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A 30-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
