Man Arrested In Wootton During Police Vehicle Stop

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Wootton on suspicion of immigration offences following a police vehicle stop.

Several police officers carried out the stop involving a silver BMW at around 15:40 yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) on one of the village's main roads.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed the man, who is from Slough in Berkshire and was visiting the Isle of Wight, was arrested at the scene.

He has since been handed over to Immigration Enforcement, who are now dealing with the matter.
