Man Arrested And Knuckleduster Seized After Daylight Assault In Carisbrooke

A man has been arrested following a serious assault in Carisbrooke this afternoon (Thursday).


Police were flagged down at around 2.05pm and alerted to an incident on Carisbrooke Road.


Following enquiries and a search of the area, officers arrested a 21-year-old man in Victoria Recreation Ground on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.


A footpath between Wellington Road and Recreation Ground Road was cordoned off while officers searched for the weapon.


A knuckleduster was later recovered with the assistance of a police dog.


Parents of pupils at Carisbrooke C of E Primary School were advised to avoid the area at pick-up time while the scene was secured.


Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed the man remains in custody.
