Man Arrested After Serious Assault At Newport Pub

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital after suffering a facial injury during an assault at The Man in the Moon in Newport on Saturday evening.
Police were called to the pub at around 18:30, where a large emergency response attended following reports of the incident.
A 42-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
The victim, who sustained a cut to his cheek, was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
Officers carried out enquiries in the area before leaving the scene at around 19:30.
Police have confirmed the arrested man has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
