Major Power Cut Hits South Wight — Thousands Affected

Thousands of homes and businesses across the South Wight are without power this afternoon (Thursday) due to a major outage.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) report that 2,262 properties across 223 postcodes were initially affected, including areas such as Ventnor, Bonchurch, St Lawrence, Niton, Whitwell, and Chale.
The fault occurred shortly before 2.15pm, with engineers currently working to restore supply. Power is expected to be back by around 5pm.
By 3:06pm, the number of properties without power had started to fall, with 2,059 addresses across 202 postcodes still affected.
