There’s been a happy ending following a recent appeal to find a missing dog on the Isle of Wight.
After 11 days on the run, the dog has now been safely located and successfully captured, bringing relief to all those involved in the search.
Drone SAR For Lost Dogs IOW say she was found in a garden, marking an emotional end to what has been a challenging and intensive operation involving multiple teams, volunteers and members of the public.
A number of organisations and individuals have been praised for their efforts, including Edward Burden for his expert knowledge and support, as well as Friends of the Animals and the TrackaDog Team for their collaboration throughout the search.
Thanks have also been extended to Fairways Holiday Park, along with staff and residents, for their patience and assistance, and to Sandown and Shanklin Golf Course for their help during the operation.
The local community also played a crucial role, with numerous sightings reported that helped track the dog’s movements.
Additional support came from Olly, who provided use of his yard, and Wight Drone for aerial assistance.
Drone SAR For Lost Dogs IOW say the dog appears to be relatively unharmed following her ordeal and is now safely recuperating.
They are also reminding the public that, while trying to help, approaching or calling a nervous lost dog can sometimes slow down recovery efforts. Instead, calmly reporting sightings as quickly as possible is the most effective way to assist.
The team has thanked everyone who shared the original appeal and helped bring about such a positive outcome.
