Leslies Motors has announced it will close its Hyundai dealership in Sandown at the end of November 2025, marking the end of an era for the long-standing site.

The company says the move is part of wider restructuring in response to changing market conditions.

While the Sandown showroom will shut its doors, Hyundai owners on the Isle of Wight will still be able to access main dealer servicing, MOTs, warranty repairs and genuine parts.

These services will transfer to Leslies Motors’ Northwood branch, which will continue as an authorised Hyundai repairer.

Leslies Motors director, Louis Vanassche, says the company remains committed to local customers, stating:

“Our authorised repair status means Hyundai drivers on the Island will still have access to servicing, repairs and warranty work without having to travel to the mainland.”

The restructuring will unfortunately mean some job losses, though the company says it is working to minimise redundancies by redeploying staff across its other sites.

Despite the closure, Leslies Motors is hinting at positive news on the horizon.

Mr Vanassche added:

“Although we are sad to make these changes, we have an exciting announcement coming soon that we can’t wait to share with our customers and the Island community.”
