Landslip Closes Section Of Calbourne Road In West Wight

A section of Calbourne Road (B3401), the main route connecting Newport with West Wight, has been closed today (Thursday) following a landslip.

Clean-up crews were called to the scene at Apesdown around 10:30am and are currently clearing debris from the road.

The affected section between Rowridge Lane and Pump Lane is fully blocked, with traffic previously managed under two-way lights due to the unstable ground.

Motorists are being advised to use Betty Haunt Lane and Elm Lane as alternative routes.

Southern Vectis Route 7 buses are also being diverted while the road remains closed.

At this stage, there is no estimate for how long the clearance work will take.
