Joe Robertson MP appointed Shadow Minister for Work and Pensions

Isle of Wight East MP Joe Robertson has taken on a new role as Shadow Minister for Work and Pensions as part of Kemi Badenoch’s reshuffle of the Conservative Opposition team.

In his new role, Joe will hold the Government to account on welfare reform while developing Conservative proposals to help more people back into work and bring down the welfare bill.

Joe Robertson MP said: 

“The Prime Minister has said this week that spending needs to come down, but more than two years on from the General Election we still have little detail about how the Government intends to achieve that. 

"Reforming our welfare system has to be part of the answer."

“I will use my new role to hold the Government to account in Parliament and also develop new policy in this area - something I have already been doing with the Centre for Social Justice think tank alongside Liz Earle and Angela Rippon."

Joe will continue to serve on the cross-party Select Committee for Health and Social Care.
