Isle Of Wight Tarot Exhibition Coming To Monkton Arts

A collection of illustrated fiction celebrating the Isle of Wight's history, folklore, people and places is going on display in Sandown next month.

The Isle of Wight Tarot was commissioned by Creative Island for the 2026 Can You Hear Us? celebration.

The 24-card collection combines short stories by writer Anmarie Bowler with illustrations by Tommy Brentnall, exploring everything from the Island's heritage and folklore to punk rock and modern-day life.

The cards include stories inspired by figures including the so-called Last Wight Witch Molly Downer, chimney sweep Valentine Gray and Ryde-born punk band Grade 2.

The exhibition will be held at Monkton Arts from October 6th to 17th, with a special opening event on October 9th from 5pm to 7pm.

There'll be music from fiddle player Sophie Kate, along with tarot readings.

All 24 cards will also be exhibited at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival in Cowes from October 8th to 11th.
