Isle Of Wight St John Ambulance Volunteer Honoured For Service

An Isle of Wight St John Ambulance volunteer has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the community.

Glen Abbott received a Certificate of Appreciation at an awards ceremony at the Royal Yacht Squadron on Monday, presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Susie Sheldon.

The award recognises Glen's leadership during a period of significant change for St John Ambulance.

Under his leadership, the Isle of Wight team delivered more than 1,600 hours of first aid cover at community events.

Youth volunteer numbers also increased by 30 per cent, while more than 275 Islanders received emergency first aid training through initiatives he supported.

St John Ambulance says Glen's work has helped strengthen first aid provision and community resilience across the Island.
