Newport based Prison Officer Zoltan Mihalyi once again showcased his immense strength at the WRPF South West Qualifier powerlifting competition.
The event, organised by the 349 Barbell Team, was a spectacle of power and precision, setting the stage for Zoltan's qualification for the Nationals later this year and the European Arnolds Classic in Madrid, the largest multisport event in Europe.
An international EXPO and multi-sports event full of colour and fun for all fans who love healthy lifestyle, sport and fitness.
It is a unique experience, in an unbeatable environment and sponsored by the multifaceted idol Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Since July last year, Zoltan has been on a relentless path of preparation, overcoming every obstacle with unwavering determination.
His positivity and resilience were evident as he stepped onto the platform for this most recent event, ready to conquer the three lifts that would define his performance.
Squat: Zoltan began with a solid 275kg, followed by an impressive 300kg.
Feeling confident, he aimed for a personal best of 310kg on his third attempt and nailed it with ease, setting the tone for the day.
Bench Press: Despite a slight discomfort in his shoulder, Zoltan's favourite lift didn't disappoint.
He started with 165kg, moved to 175kg, and then shattered the British record with a phenomenal 183kg on his third lift.
Deadlift: The final challenge saw Zoltan starting with a comfortable 275kg, then increasing to 295kg.
For his last lift, he needed 307.5kg to reach the coveted 800kg total.
The weight reached his knees but refused to budge further, leaving him just shy of his goal.
Overall, Zoltan's performance was nothing short of spectacular.
He achieved a total of 788kg, 53kg more than last year, with personal bests in squat and deadlift, and a British record in bench press.
His efforts earned him the top spot in the UK rankings and fifth in the world.
