Isle of Wight chef Robert Thompson MBE has been named Best UK Chef at the 2025 British Restaurant Awards.
Thompson, who runs RT Grill and Café in Ryde, was shortlisted alongside some of the most high-profile names in the industry, including Gordon Ramsay.
His win marks a significant achievement for the Island’s culinary sector.
In a statement shared on social media following the ceremony, Robert thanked those who supported him, writing:
“To everyone who voted for me last night in the Best UK Chef category — thank you.
"Chuffed to be bringing this one back to the Isle of Wight and to celebrating with my team at Café Grill.”
This is not the first time Thompson has been recognised on the national stage.
In 2024, RT Grill and Café was awarded Best New Restaurant in the UK at the same event.
