The Isle of Wight has topped a nationwide survey as the UK’s happiest spot for family staycations, scoring 12.2 out of 15 in a study of over 12,000 people.

The Island beat out Pembrokeshire and Hampshire for its family-friendly attractions, child and toddler suitability, and unforgettable experiences. From building sandcastles on Shanklin beach to exploring dinosaur fossils at Dinosaur Isle, the Island offers something for every generation.

As searches for “family staycation ideas” surge by over 5000%, parents are turning to the Isle of Wight for last-minute summer getaways, according to HolidayCottages. Highlights include Blackgang Chine, Britain’s oldest theme park, and scenic family walks to The Needles.

Local favourites such as The Caulkheads in Sandown and the Donkey Sanctuary also contribute to the Island’s charm. With no need for flights or passports, the Isle of Wight offers an accessible escape packed with fun, fresh air, and family joy.
