Isle Of Wight Food Partnership Joins National Sustainable Food Network

The Isle of Wight Food Partnership has officially joined a national network aimed at creating healthier, fairer and more sustainable food systems.

The Partnership has become a member of the Sustainable Food Places network, just over a year after it was launched.

It brings together local organisations, businesses, farming representatives, community groups and public sector partners to tackle food insecurity, support local producers, improve access to nutritious food and promote sustainability.

The Partnership was set up by the Isle of Wight Council and is working to build a more resilient food system across the Island's Biosphere.

Joining the national network gives the Isle of Wight a stronger voice in discussions around food, while creating opportunities to share ideas and learn from other communities tackling similar challenges.

Amelie-Rose Owen, vice chair of the Isle of Wight Food Partnership, said food "touches every aspect of our lives".

She said the Partnership's work covers everything from tackling food poverty and improving health, to supporting local businesses and addressing environmental challenges.

She added that joining the Sustainable Food Places network provides a "fantastic platform" to explore new opportunities locally and benefit from the experience of the wider national movement.
