The Isle of Wight Festival got off to a spectacular start on Thursday as thousands of music fans descended on Seaclose Park for the opening day of the four-day weekend.

Sunshine, singalongs and high-energy performances set the tone for what promises to be one of the biggest festival weekends of the summer, with eager crowds flocking to stages across the site from the moment the gates opened.

Among the first-day highlights were crowd-pleasing sets from Joel Corry, Maxïmo Park, Hot Dub Time Machine and Elvana, delivering everything from indie anthems and dancefloor favourites to nostalgic rock classics.

Elvana — the Elvis-fronted Nirvana tribute act — wasted no time getting the party started, treating festivalgoers to a unique blend of grunge and rock'n'roll. The band launched into fan favourites as crowds packed out the area, setting the tone for an energetic opening evening.

Indie favourites Maxïmo Park also drew a strong crowd, delivering a set packed with well-known tracks and festival-ready energy as the sun began to set over the Island.

Thursday marked the beginning of four days of live music, entertainment and festival fun, with headline performances still to come across the weekend.
