September might mean the end of summer holidays, but there’s still plenty happening around the Isle of Wight.
From celebrity cricket and illuminated carnival floats to live music, heritage, steampunk and a rather special birthday celebration, here are eight events worth putting in your diary this month.
🏏 CELEBRITY CRICKET MATCH
When: Saturday 5 September
📍 Newclose Cricket Ground, Newport

The Celebrity Cricket Match returns to Newclose Cricket Ground for an afternoon combining cricket, entertainment and fundraising.
Confirmed guests include former England cricketer Monty Panesar, Calum Best, Dan Osborne and a host of other sporting and TV personalities.
🌿 WOLVERTON MANOR GARDEN FAIR
When: Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 September
📍 Wolverton Manor, Shorwell

One of the Island's biggest traditional garden fairs returns to the beautiful grounds of Wolverton Manor.
More than 200 exhibitors are expected, alongside specialist plants, garden supplies, crafts, food and drink.
✨ RYDE ILLUMINATED CARNIVAL
When: Saturday 5 September
📍 Ryde
⏰ Procession starts at 8.30pm

Summer's carnival season gets one final spectacular send-off in Ryde.
The illuminated procession brings glowing floats, music, costumes and community groups to the town's streets after dark.
🏛️ HERITAGE OPEN DAYS
When: Saturday 12 September
📍 Museum of Island History, Newport Guildhall

The Museum of Island History is opening its doors for free as part of Heritage Open Days.
There’s also the chance to take part in a special Charlotte Mew theatrical walking tour, created by StoneCrabs Theatre. That starts at 11am from the Yellowfin Propeller opposite Quay Arts and costs £10, with advance booking required.
🎩 ISLE OF WIGHT STEAMPUNK FESTIVAL
When: Friday 18 – Sunday 20 September
📍 Ryde

Goggles at the ready – the Isle of Wight Steampunk Festival returns to Ryde.
Expect three days of eccentric costumes, music, performances, stalls, workshops and plenty of wonderfully unusual goings-on.
🎷 ISLE OF WIGHT JAZZ WEEKEND
Friday 18 – Sunday 20 September
📍 Venues across Newport

There’s a packed programme spread across several Newport venues, with highlights including Friday Night at Quay Arts from 7.30pm, featuring performances across the theatre and café spaces.
Individual event prices vary, with tickets starting at £10 for some performances.
🦁 WILDHEART'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Saturday 19 September
📍 Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, Sandown
⏰ 5pm–8.30pm

Wildheart Animal Sanctuary is marking 50 years with a special evening celebration.
There'll be animal talks and feeds, live acoustic music, bubbleology, glitter face painting, roaming performers, food stalls and a barbecue.
The evening will finish with a Wildheart-themed drone show from LumaNation.

When: Saturday 19/Wednesday 23 September
