Isle of Wight Distillery Unveils Limited-Edition Mermaid Winter Gin

Gin lovers on the Isle of Wight are being invited to raise a glass to a new seasonal spirit, as the Isle of Wight Distillery launches its latest limited-edition creation – Mermaid Winter Gin.

Crafted in small batches and available only during the colder months, the special edition is being released exclusively through John Lewis stores and online, as well as at outlets across the Island and from the distillery shop.

The Winter Gin is a festive twist on the distillery’s award-winning Mermaid Gin, blending locally-sourced ingredients such as Isle of Wight honey, coastal figs, vineyard grapes, cassia and orange peel.

The result is a smooth, spiced flavour that reflects the changing seasons – from autumn’s first chill to New Year celebrations.

Xavier Baker, co-founder of the Isle of Wight Distillery, said:

“Mermaid Winter Gin is crafted to reflect the changing of the seasons.

"This year’s harvest has been especially generous, with figs from coastal trees, grapes from the vineyards surrounding our distillery and honey from local hives all finding their way into the gin.

"It’s a true taste of our community’s abundance, bringing those seasonal flavours to life and made to be enjoyed together during the cosier months.”

Presented in the distillery’s iconic plastic-free bottle, the gin is designed as both a sustainable gift and a festive centrepiece for seasonal gatherings.

Suggested serves include a simple tonic with rosemary and orange, a winter take on a Negroni using mulled wine, and a sparkling twist on the French 75 cocktail.

Mermaid Winter Gin (70cl, RRP £40) is available now via the John Lewis app, in stores, and online – as well as through selected Island retailers and the Isle of Wight Distillery shop.
