Yates Brewery has been awarded Gold at this year’s Label of the Year Competition held at Bateman’s Brewery in Wainfleet, taking the top spot for ‘Best Set of Labels’ from a field of 166 entries nationwide.
The winning designs were created by Newport-based marketing agency Solent, drawing inspiration from notable Isle of Wight landmarks, legends, and local characters.
Each label tells the story behind the brew, highlighting the Island’s rich history and culture.
Since their release, the new designs have attracted significant attention from both publicans and the wider community, with demand outstripping supply.

Head Brewer Josh Davies said the aim was to give the labels a modern touch while retaining traditional elements, reflecting both the Island’s heritage and the character of the beers.
“The labels each have their own story, whether it’s a location, a legend, or a historical figure from the Isle of Wight,” Davies said.
“Winning first place for the first four designs we’ve produced this year shows how well they’ve been received locally and nationally.”
Tom Squirrell from Solent added:
“It’s fantastic to see feedback from the Island translated into recognition across the country.
"We have some exciting new ideas for future pump clips, so the community can expect more to come.”
The award is a proud moment for the Island, highlighting local creativity and craftsmanship in both brewing and design.
