Island residents are being urged to have their say on plans for a new section of the King Charles III England Coast Path — with the public consultation closing at midnight on Wednesday, 22 October.

The proposals, published by Natural England, cover the stretch of coastline between East Cowes and Wootton Bridge — known as IOW 1 — and form part of a national project to create a continuous walking route around the entire English coast.

Councillor Julie Jones-Evans, chair of the Isle of Wight Council’s economy, regeneration, transport and infrastructure committee, is encouraging Islanders to take part:

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to influence how our coastline is opened up to the public,” she said.
“If you care about access, the environment, or how our Island is experienced by future generations, now is the time to speak up.”

Once complete, the King Charles III England Coast Path will stretch more than 2,700 miles, linking communities across the country, supporting tourism, and encouraging outdoor activity.

The section currently under consultation includes details on access points, land use, and environmental protections.

Natural England is inviting feedback from residents, landowners, walkers, and anyone with an interest in the Island’s coastline.
