Singing stars from across the Isle of Wight came together at the weekend for a special concert in support of Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, raising almost £1,500.
Solo performers as young as eight and a 50-strong choir took part in the event, which was organised by Island vocal coach Kay Howard.
Held in the theatre at Ryde School, the evening featured performances from Kay’s Melodic Choir, a newly formed teen choir, and her vocal clients — some of whom were taking to the stage for the very first time.
Funds were raised through ticket sales and a raffle on the night, with a total of £1,430 collected for the charity, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Wildheart Animal Sanctuary’s Head of Community, Events and Partnerships, Lorraine White, praised the event as a “wonderful showcase of Island talent” and thanked everyone involved for their support.
She also highlighted the importance of fundraising efforts in helping the sanctuary continue its work caring for animals.
She said:
“It costs nearly £2 million every year to provide our animals with the specialist care, food, and forever homes they deserve — and events like this make that possible.
"The community’s support literally keeps our Sanctuary alive.”
