Staff from Island Roads have rolled up their sleeves to support the RSPCA Isle of Wight Animal Centre during its annual Corporate Volunteer Day.
A team of seven employees from across the company spent the day at the centre near Godshill, carrying out a range of maintenance and improvement projects alongside volunteers from other Island businesses.
The group helped with grounds clearance, painted boundary fencing and refurbished the centre's rabbit sanctuary, helping to improve facilities for animals currently in the charity's care.
The volunteering initiative forms part of Island Roads' staff programme, which encourages employees to take up to two days each year to support local charities and community projects.
After completing their work, volunteers were given the opportunity to meet some of the animals being cared for at the centre while they await new homes.
Rachel Mills, one of the Island Roads volunteers, described the experience as rewarding and said it was great to work alongside people from other organisations while supporting a worthwhile cause.
Steve Backhouse, Branch Director of the RSPCA Isle of Wight, thanked Island Roads and the other businesses involved for their support.
He said the charity relies heavily on local fundraising and community support, with more than 90 per cent of its income needing to be raised on the Island.
The annual volunteer day brings together businesses from across the Isle of Wight to help improve the centre and support the welfare of vulnerable animals.
