Island Roads has lent a helping hand to ensure the newly restored Sandown Town Hall is ready for visitors, stepping in to mark out safe and accessible car parking bays for the town’s youth project.

The historic Grade II listed building, once derelict, has been brought back to life through an Isle of Wight Council-led initiative, with Community Action Isle of Wight delivering the Bay Youth Project from part of the premises.

But one final touch was needed: clear parking lines. With the centre’s renovation budget fully allocated, Island Roads offered support through its volunteering scheme.

Working with its lining contractor WJ, Island Roads staff marked out ten bays, including two reserved for disabled users.

This follows previous support from Island Roads through a £14,000 grant via the Isle of Wight Foundation, which helped establish a grassroots music and media project within the building, now run by LINK, a youth centre supporting 10–18-year-olds.

Emma Moul, LINK Manager, said:

“As the centre becomes busier, the safety of our visitors is very important.
"Designated bays ensure controlled and safe parking while maximising the spaces available.
"Island Roads has already been generous through the IW Foundation grant, and it’s fantastic that they are also giving their time and expertise.
"We are very thankful for their support.”

Spencer Jarman, Island Roads Design and Lining Supervisor, led the team and designed the new layout to optimise safety and space. He added:

“The new youth centre is a fantastic project that will provide creative opportunities to many young people in the Bay area.
"We are delighted to support them.”

With Island Roads’ assistance, Sandown Town Hall is fully ready to welcome the next generation of young creatives, ensuring a safe and accessible environment for all.
