Netball is helping Isle of Wight residents get active, lose weight, and boost wellbeing thanks to the Island’s gloji Lose Weight Programme.

Participants can enjoy 12 free weekly exercise sessions at local leisure centres, led by qualified coaches, alongside access to a flexible digital programme with healthy recipes, workouts, and support.

For Adele Norman from Binstead, the programme was life-changing.

She said:

“I had put on a lot of weight and was struggling with my mental health.
"My son saw the gloji netball programme online and knew how much I loved the sport.
"In 12 weeks, I lost 1.5 stone and re-ignited my enjoyment for netball — even taking part in a charity tournament”.

Adele plans to continue with the next programme and hopes to join a competitive team soon.

Claire Harwood, gloji Netball Coach, said:

"I’ve seen women achieve genuinely life-changing results — not just in fitness and weight loss, but in confidence, social connections, and a renewed love for being active."

Claire also runs the Island’s Beach Netball programme.

Lorna Malcolm from East Cowes also credits the programme with helping her get fit and make friends:

“We were a group of women who hadn’t played since school.
"It was tough at first, but the support and encouragement kept us going.
"We loved it so much we joined a local netball league and even named our team the Glojis!”

Adam Tolmie, Engagements and Partnership Officer at gloji Isle of Wight, added:

"The programme is non-competitive, embraces all abilities, and helps participants make healthier lifestyle choices while building social connections."

The gloji Netball programme continues to support Islanders in achieving fitness, wellbeing, and lasting friendships — proving that a love for sport can be the key to a healthier lifestyle.
