A bumper bag of Christmas card designs transformed an Isle of Wight Council office into a festive gallery this week, after an overwhelming response to the annual Christmas card competition.

Colourful creations from pupils across the Island covered every surface — even spilling onto the floor — making the task of choosing a winner particularly challenging.

Each design captured the spirit of the season, showcasing imagination, detail and a lot of Christmas cheer.

After several hours of careful judging, a shortlist of ten was selected before one design was crowned the overall winner.

Ella, from Wroxall Primary School, took the top spot with her charming illustration featuring a cheerful cat, its reflection in a bauble, a family portrait on the wall, and snow falling softly across the Island outside the window.

Two runners-up were also chosen, and the winning schools will receive festive congratulations in person.

A spokesperson praised the high standard of entries, saying:

“The creativity and effort that went into these cards was outstanding.
"Every design told its own story of Christmas joy, and the children should be incredibly proud of what they’ve created.”
