Small holiday-let businesses across the Isle of Wight are benefitting from a partnership between Wightlink and Ryde-based travel company Atlas Ferries, helping guests secure better-value ferry travel while supporting the Island’s vital tourism economy.
Atlas Ferries now works with around 250 holiday-let properties, a huge increase from just 50 in 2022.
The business was founded by Chris Bamber, who moved to the Island in 2008 and previously ran a successful school photography company before launching a holiday-let management service during the pandemic.
While managing properties, Chris identified a significant challenge for visitors – affordable and accessible ferry travel.
That need sparked discussions with Wightlink, eventually leading to the creation of Atlas Ferries, which focuses on securing discounted ferry deals for accommodation providers and their guests.
The Atlas team – Chris, Gillian, Karen, Jonathan and Izzy – now helps accommodation owners of all sizes offer competitive travel options to holidaymakers.
This year alone, the company has handled more than 3,000 bookings.
Wightlink’s Head of Business Development, Kirstie Higgins-Day, said the company was proud to support Island businesses:
“We listened to the issues small Island businesses faced and worked closely with Chris to support accommodation owners.
"The account continues to grow each year thanks to the great partnership we’ve built and the shared focus on strengthening Island tourism.”
Atlas Ferries founder Chris Bamber said the collaboration is making a real difference:
“Our partnership with Wightlink is strengthening local tourism and making journeys to the Isle of Wight smoother for everyone.
"Every booking we make helps our local economy.
"We love the Island, we love sharing it, and our job is simply to help people get here with a great deal.”
He added that Atlas Ferries is keen to support even more independent accommodation providers, praising Wightlink’s “outstanding” business support and efficient booking systems.
