Hunnyhill Closed After Overnight Water Leak

Hunnyhill in Newport has been closed in both directions following an overnight water leak.

The closure was put in place shortly before 11pm on Sunday and will remain in force until further notice while Southern Water contractors carry out repairs.

Motorists are being warned to expect disruption throughout today (Monday) and are advised to allow extra time for their journeys or avoid the area if possible.

The closure is also affecting Southern Vectis bus services.

Routes 1 and 51 are unable to use Hunnyhill and are diverting via Hunnycross Way and the dual carriageway.

Services towards Cowes are rejoining their normal route at St Mary's Hospital, while buses travelling towards Newport are diverting from St Mary's Hospital via the dual carriageway and Hunnycross Way before returning to Newport Bus Station.

Bus stops between St Mary's Hospital and Towngate are not being served while the road remains closed.
