Hovertravel has announced a major boost to its timetable for this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, adding 82 extra flights across the event period.
Departures will run every 15 minutes on Thursday 18 June and Monday 22 June to help meet demand from thousands of music fans travelling to and from the Island.
The operator says the enhanced service is designed to ease peak-time pressure and provide greater flexibility at the start and end of the Festival weekend.
The ten-minute crossing between Southsea and Ryde makes it the fastest route across the Solent for foot passengers.
Hovertravel has also confirmed it will operate late-night crossings on the Sunday for the first time, with additional departures from Ryde at 22:45, 23:15 and 23:45 following the Festival’s closing performances.
Head of Marketing Loretta Lale said Festival weekend is one of the company’s busiest periods and urged customers to book early, as services are expected to fill up quickly.
Tickets for Festival weekend sailings are available now via the Hovertravel website.
