The Isle of Wight Council has suspended the premises licence for The Holliers Hotel in Shanklin.

The decision was made by the Council’s Licensing Sub‑Committee on Monday 29 December 2025.

The suspension follows an application by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary for a summary review, after a search warrant on 23 December 2025 uncovered a large number of cannabis plants at the hotel.

Police said the discovery raised concerns about serious crime or disorder connected to the premises.

As a result, the hotel must remain closed for all licensable activities until a full review hearing is held next month.

A date for that hearing is yet to be confirmed. Police requested the suspension to remain in place while the matter is fully investigated.
