'Helicopter Crash' Sparks Major Emergency Response To Shanklin Area

A major emergency services response is underway following reports of a crashed helicopter on the outskirts of Shanklin this morning (Monday).


Multiple fire appliances from across the Isle of Wight have been joined by ambulances, police and the Coastguard helicopter from Lee on Solent at the scene - between Whitely Bank and Shanklin.


The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was also scrambled to the scene following the first reports at around 9:30am.


The exact nature of the incident isn't yet known.


It's been confirmed one person has been airlifted to hospital.


Shanklin Road remains closed.
