The Green Party’s deputy leader is set to visit the Isle of Wight this weekend as the party steps up its local election campaign.

Rachel Millward will be on the Island on Saturday, meeting local businesses and hosting a public talk in Newport focused on increasing Green representation on the council.

Her visit comes amid growing support for the Isle of Wight Green Party ahead of the May elections.

Millward, who was elected to the party’s leadership team last September, has also played a key role in leading the Greens to power at Wealden District Council in East Sussex.

Speaking ahead of her visit, she said she is looking forward to meeting residents and party members during what she described as an “exciting run up” to the elections.

She will be speaking at Quay Arts in Newport at 2.30pm on Saturday.
