Graffiti sprayed on a community clubhouse and a public defibrillator on the Isle of Wight has now been removed, following swift action by Island Roads.
The vandalism, which included offensive symbols sprayed across the building and the life-saving defibrillator, sparked widespread concern after images were shared on social media earlier this week.
Island Roads has confirmed it has a strong working relationship with Isle of Wight Defibrillators and was quick to act after becoming aware of the incident online.
The company arranged for the graffiti to be cleaned away, restoring the defibrillator to full visibility and use.
Island Roads already has its own defibrillator on site and previously worked with Steve Read from Isle of Wight Defibrillators on a staff training video, reinforcing the importance of public access defibs across the Island.
Isle of Wight Defibrillators has welcomed the response and says it is pleased with how quickly the situation was resolved, ensuring the equipment remains accessible in an emergency.
The incident had previously been described by the community as deeply disrespectful, particularly given the vital role defibrillators play in saving lives.
Police continue to investigate the vandalism, with CCTV footage having been passed on.
Residents are once again being urged to respect public spaces and life-saving equipment that exists for the benefit of everyone.
