Future Of Cowes Heritage Collection At Risk Without New Volunteers

Thousands of historic photos and documents linked to Cowes, Gurnard and Northwood could be lost unless new organisers come forward.

The Cowes Heritage and Community Group, based at the Beckford Centre, is facing closure this year following the resignation of key trustees due to health and personal reasons.

Chairperson Lin Hayward says the future of the collection is now at risk without people to take over running the charity.

The group not only preserves local history but also runs exhibitions, produces books and hosts community activities and talks at the Beckford Centre.

The centre itself could also be at risk if the group is forced to close.
