Free Water Safety Day To Take Place In Cowes

Residents and visitors are being invited to a new event in Cowes aimed at promoting safety on and around the water.

Cowes Harbour Commission is hosting its first Harbour Safety Day at the Sugar Store in Shepards Marina on Saturday 18th July between 10:00 and 16:00.

The free event will bring together a range of maritime safety organisations, emergency services and training providers, offering interactive displays, demonstrations and family-friendly activities.

Among those taking part are Cowes RNLI, HM Coastguard, NCI Coastwatch, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, St John Ambulance, the Maritime Volunteer Service, Ryde Lifeguards, the Royal Life Saving Society, SeaSafe and Flying Fish.

Visitors will be able to learn more about water safety, explore specialist equipment and speak to the professionals and volunteers who help keep local waters safe.

Cowes Harbour Commission Chief Executive Gary Hall said the event is designed to bring the community together and help people better understand how to stay safe while enjoying the marine environment.

The event is expected to appeal to sailors, paddleboarders, kayakers, anglers, beachgoers and families, as well as local schools, youth groups and sailing clubs.

Harbour Safety Day takes place at the Sugar Store, Shepards Marina, Cowes, on Saturday 18th July from 10:00 until 16:00. Admission is free.
