Free Santa’s Grotto Coming To Newport This Weekend

A High Street shop in Newport will be transformed into a festive Santa’s Grotto tomorrow (Saturday) — offering children a free gift and the chance to meet Father Christmas.

The Utilita Energy Hub at 121 High Street will host the event on Saturday 6 December, from 11.30am to 3pm.

Families are invited to drop in, take photos with Santa and collect a small present for children aged up to 10.

The event is free, although visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to support a local food bank.

Gifts will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Energy Expert Dan Da Piedade said the aim is to bring “some festive cheer” to families during a difficult winter.

Adults visiting the hub can also get a hot drink and simple energy-saving advice.

Utilita opened its Newport Energy Hub in 2020 as part of its community-focused customer service model.

The hubs were recognised this week with the Customer Support Award 2025 at the Utility Week Awards.
