Four candidates are competing for the East Cowes seat on the Isle of Wight Council as voters prepare for the May 7 elections.
Incumbent Independent councillor Karl Love is seeking re-election, facing challenges from Conservative Peter Ball, Reform UK’s Mark Stone and Green Party candidate Christopher Warleigh-Lack.
Candidates were invited to submit short statements outlining their priorities.
Peter Ball (Local Conservatives)
Peter Ball, a retired firefighter and foster carer, has lived in East Cowes for 27 years.
He is also Commodore of East Cowes Sailing Club and says he played a role in reopening the town’s seafront slipway to support the return of youth sailing.
He describes himself as passionate about the town and is also involved in local music and events.
Karl Love (Independent, incumbent councillor)
Karl Love says representing East Cowes has been a “humbling experience” and highlights the importance of balancing challenges such as the Island’s economy and changing demographics with community spirit.
He says his focus is on scrutiny, communication and creating opportunities for residents.
Mark Stone (Reform UK)
No candidate statement was provided.
Christopher Warleigh-Lack (Green Party)
Christopher Warleigh-Lack is an East Cowes town councillor and heritage professional. He volunteers locally, including as a trustee at Quay Arts, and says he believes bold decisions are needed to bring positive change to the Island.
