A former fish and chip shop in Cowes is set to be transformed into a one-bedroom apartment.

Plans have been approved to change the use of 36 Victoria Road — previously home to Chip Ahoy — into residential accommodation.

The application, submitted by Andrew Pritchard, outlines proposals to lease the completed property to a local housing association.

According to the plans, the building’s external appearance will remain unchanged, with the work focused mainly on internal alterations.

The ground floor will be reconfigured to provide a kitchen and living space, while the lower ground floor will be converted to include a bedroom and bathroom.

Existing fixtures from the former takeaway will be removed, with new partition walls installed to create a more suitable layout for residential use.

Cowes Town Council raised no objections to the proposal.
