A flood alert has been issued for the Isle of Wight coastline, with the Environment Agency warning that flooding is possible during high tides early on Friday morning.
The alert covers coastal areas around the Island, with the greatest risk expected for around one hour either side of the early morning high tide at 3.15am on Friday 9 January.
Storm Goretti is forecast to increase tide levels by around 0.8 metres, with the total predicted tide reaching 4.86 metres at Cowes.
Strong north-westerly winds, reaching Force 8, are also expected.
The Environment Agency says very minor flooding could affect some seafront roads, esplanades and car parks across the Island.
Water levels are expected to be high on slipways in Cowes, which may impact Medina Road and the floating bridge. In East Cowes, seawater could be forced up through drains, causing minor impacts on Albany Road.
A second high tide later on Friday afternoon at 3.30pm is forecast to be significantly lower, and no further flooding is currently expected.
The Environment Agency says it is closely monitoring the situation and advises residents in at-risk areas to consider activating any flood protection measures they have in place.
An update to the flood alert is expected by 12pm on Friday, or sooner if conditions change.
