Floating Bridge Fare Increase Proposals Rejected

Plans to increase Floating Bridge fares and introduce a charge for under-19s have been rejected by Isle of Wight councillors.

The proposals would have increased passenger and vehicle fares to match those charged by Dartmouth Lower Ferry.

They also included a £1 charge for under-19s travelling between 7pm and 7am.

All councillors on the Economy, Regeneration, Transport and Infrastructure Committee voted against the proposals at a meeting yesterday evening (Tuesday).

The plans had been recommended for consideration as part of the council’s budget-setting process.
