Godshill Road Improvement Work To Start Next Month

Major improvement work on the main road through Godshill is due to begin next month.
Island Roads will start work on November 2 on the section between Godshill Primary School and the main car park.
The road will be closed Monday to Friday while large sections of the highway are excavated and rebuilt to address underlying ground problems.
It is hoped the work will finish by January 15, although the programme has been extended to January 29 to allow for possible disruption caused by bad weather.
The road is expected to reopen at weekends where it is safe to do so, and will be fully open over the Christmas and New Year break.
A diversion will run via Rookley, Blackwater, Arreton, Ventnor Road and Canteen Road at Apse Heath.
The road will then be resurfaced over several nights next year, most likely in April.
The work has been split into three phases to reduce disruption, with Island Roads saying the timing has been agreed following discussions with local businesses and councillors.
