Five Rescued After Motor Boat Runs Aground At Bembridge Ledge

Five people have been rescued after a motor boat ran aground at Bembridge Ledge.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening, with Bembridge National Coastwatch Institution volunteers raising the alarm at around 5:50pm after spotting the vessel in difficulty.

Solent Coastguard sent lifeboats from Bembridge RNLI to the scene, with both the all-weather and inshore lifeboats involved in the response.

Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams also attended, alongside ambulance crews.

The five people onboard are understood to have made their way safely ashore.

The boat was left listing heavily following the incident.

It is not yet known whether anyone was injured.

Bembridge Ledge is a well-known navigational hazard off the eastern coast of the Isle of Wight.
