Five Arrested After Sandown Crash As Police Investigate Drug Supply

Police have arrested several people following a two-vehicle crash in Sandown which led to a drink-driving charge.

Officers were called to Broadway shortly after 11.45pm on Saturday (29 August), following reports of a collision. Minor injuries were reported.

A 25-year-old man, Jagroop Singh, from Selworthy Road in Coventry, was arrested and has since been charged with drink driving.

He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 13 October.

Police subsequently searched both vehicles involved and made a number of arrests as part of an investigation into the suspected supply of Class A drugs.

Two 22-year-old men, two 24-year-old men and a 25-year-old man, all from Coventry, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

The 25-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class A controlled drug.

A further 22-year-old man and 24-year-old man, also from Coventry, were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to supply a Class A controlled drug.

All six have been released on bail with conditions until Monday 30 November while enquiries continue.

Police then made three more arrests in Newport on Sunday (30 August), following a proactive stop on St John’s Road linked to the investigation.

A 19-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, all from Coventry, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply.

The 23-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance.

All three have also been released on bail with conditions until Monday 30 November.
