A fundraiser has been launched to support 32-year-old Yazmin, a single mother of three and NHS mental health nurse from the Isle of Wight, who is facing a life-changing neurological condition.

Yazmin, who has worked across multiple hospital departments and balanced family life with her career, was diagnosed five months ago with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).

The condition affects the brain’s normal pathways, causing symptoms including paralysis, tremors, seizures, memory issues, and difficulties with daily functions.

Currently reliant on a wheelchair, Yazmin is unable to walk and requires intensive rehabilitation to relearn basic mobility.

She also experiences “dorsal vagal shutdowns,” episodes where her body temporarily shuts down completely, leaving her unable to move, speak, or open her eyes, though she remains aware of her surroundings.

Friends and family describe Yazmin as a proud, independent woman who has always cared for others and now needs help herself.

Her loved ones say she is determined to regain her independence for both her own wellbeing and for her three daughters, aged eleven, nine, and two.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for the specialised rehab she needs.

Supporters can contribute and find more information here.

Even small donations are being welcomed to help Yazmin work towards walking again and returning to the vibrant, caring life she shared with her family and community.
