Drivers in Shanklin are being warned of disruption after two temporary emergency road closures were introduced by Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council.
The first closure affects High Street between Regent Street and Landguard Road, covering a stretch of around 53 metres.
The emergency restriction came into force at 08:52 this morning (Tuesday) and is expected to remain in place for up to 5 days, or until works are completed.
A signed diversion route is in operation via North Road, Queens Road, Arthurs Hill, Sandown Road, Newport Road, Ventnor Road, Canteen Road, Whiteley Bank, Godshill Road, Victoria Avenue and back to High Street.
A separate closure is also in place on Green Lane from its junction with Lovett Way, extending approximately 94 metres in a north-easterly direction.
That closure began at 12:25pm on Monday and could also remain in place for up to 5 days while emergency works are carried out.
Diversions for the Green Lane closure are routed via Green Lane, Landguard Manor Road, Landguard Road, Marine Cross Road, Regent Street, Atherley Road, Arthurs Hill, Sandown Road and Cemetery Road.
Island Roads says signed diversion routes will be in place throughout the closures, with access maintained to nearby properties wherever possible.
