Emergency Road Closure On Staplers Road In Newport

Drivers are being warned of a temporary road closure on Staplers Road in Newport due to emergency works.

Ringway Island Roads Ltd, acting on behalf of Isle of Wight Council, has issued an emergency notice under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, allowing the closure to come into force without delay while work is carried out on or near the road.

The affected section of Staplers Road will be closed from its junction with Heathfield Close for approximately 134 metres in a westerly direction.

The closure came into effect at 10:32pm on Monday, 18 May, and could remain in place for up to five days, although restrictions may be lifted earlier if work is completed sooner.

A signed diversion route will be in place, taking motorists via Staplers Road, Whiterails Road, Briddlesford Road and Long Lane.

Access to nearby properties will be maintained where reasonably possible during the works.
