The The Duchess of Gloucester visited Ability Dogs 4 Young People IoW at its training centre at Sandown Airport earlier this month.

Accompanied by Deputy Lieutenant Dawn Haig-Thomas, Her Royal Highness met volunteers, recipients and training puppies during the visit on 1st May.

The Duchess watched demonstrations from puppies learning a range of skills and also met people supported by Ability Dogs, hearing how the specially trained animals help improve confidence and independence.

Founder and CEO Carol Court said it was an honour to showcase the charity’s work and the difference the dogs make to people’s lives across the Island.

The visit concluded with young recipient Raven presenting The Duchess with two plush Ability Dog toys representing charity dogs Bonnie and Georgie.
