Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a dog was put to sleep following an incident in Oakfield last week.
Officers were called at 6.35pm on Wednesday March 26 after a woman and a dog were bitten by another dog on the High Street.
The woman received puncture wounds to her arm and the dog received injuries to its leg.
Following consultation with all parties, including the victim and the owner of the dog involved, the animal was taken to a vet and has been humanely put to sleep.
