Plans to transform four disused farm barns in the Isle of Wight National Landscape into flexible commercial spaces have been approved.

RW and JSW Fisk Partnership has been granted prior approval for a change of use at Marsh Green Farm in Brighstone.

The former agricultural buildings could now be used for a range of purposes including industrial units, storage and distribution, hotel accommodation, business and commercial use, outdoor recreation or agricultural training.

Planning documents submitted by BCM Wilson Hill said the proposal supports government aims to encourage economic growth in rural areas and help farming businesses diversify.

A decision report issued by the Isle of Wight Council concluded the scale and location of the development would not have a harmful impact on neighbouring properties.

One condition attached to the approval requires 11 parking spaces and vehicle turning areas to be completed before the new uses begin, allowing vehicles to enter and leave the site safely in forward gear.

Brighstone Parish Council raised no objections to the plans but requested that access should be routed via Marsh Lane rather than Mill Lane, while also highlighting concerns around lighting due to the area’s dark skies status.
