Traffic on Medina Way was disrupted earlier today (Friday) after a man was spotted sitting on railings above the River Medina.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at around 1pm.

Northbound traffic was reduced to a single lane while emergency services attended.

Reports indicate the man had been dangling his legs over the barriers and filming those trying to help him.

He has since left the railings safely and is now receiving care from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

Drivers were warned to expect delays in the area while the incident was ongoing.

We have contacted the emergency services for further information.
