A decision on introducing further double yellow lines in Gunville has been delayed following advice from Isle of Wight Council officers.

Members of the economy, regeneration, transport and infrastructure committee (ERTIC) agreed to defer the item at their meeting on March 19, after being told they did not have all the necessary information.

The proposed ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restrictions would affect parts of Forest Hills, Arthur Moody Drive, Broadwood Lane and Park Close.

They are linked to a 2022 planning permission for development in the area, which required potential highway safety issues to be addressed through a Traffic Regulation Order.

Monitoring officer Christopher Potter advised councillors to postpone the decision, citing uncertainty around the status of the original planning permission.

He told the committee that without full clarity, the safest course of action would be to defer the matter until more information is available.

During the discussion, councillors debated whether the planning permission may have expired, as developments are typically required to begin within three years.

Some members argued a decision could still be made based on the information provided, while others said it would be inappropriate to proceed without full details.

A motion to defer the item was put forward and agreed, meaning the decision will be revisited once further information has been gathered.
